Thel graduated from The University of Georgia in 1989 with a BFA in Graphic Design, minoring in Scientific Illustration after briefly studying Civil Engineering at Southern Tech.
Five years after working as a Graphic Artist, an opportunity to incorporate his skills as a scientific illustrator at the College of Veterinary Medicine peaked his interest. Once there, in an environment encouraging learning and growth, Thel’s combined backgrounds in engineering, illustration and design resulted in his being drawn to the emerging industry of 3D imagery. After becoming self-taught in the industries leading software, Thel received a reclassification in 1999 and became the first 3D production artist at The University of Georgia.
Since then, he has been involved with the creation of several teaching tools for veterinary students, helping earn awards for interactive programs like the “Elements of the Equine Distal Limb” and “The Glass Horse Equine Colic.” Thel continues to learn and evolve with the continuously emerging technologies of the multimedia industry.
